how I'm feeling

Sometimes life can get a little crazy, ya know?

There's stress everywhere you turn. Especially around the holidays.

No matter how hard you try to be positive, the negativity can just catch up with you.

The kids are driving you up the wall, the laundry is piled waaaay too high (clean and dirty, in multiple areas of the house), the sink has become a mountain of dirty dishes and you haven't had a shower in an embarrassing number of days. You feel like you don't get anything accomplished and that every day seems to mull together into one big blur of work, kids, eat, sleep, repeat. And can I just say one more thing? Bills.

But. There's always a but isn't there?

Those are such minuscule things.

I can honestly look at those "complaints" and come back with:

Those kids driving you crazy?... they're YOUR babies. Your precious little ones that bring so much joy and happiness to your world. Do you know how many people dream and pray to have sweet children of their own? Do you know how lucky you are?

That laundry? Well, 1- you are fortunate enough to not only have money to buy clothes, but also to have running water to wash them in. 2-So what if they sit in piles? Instead of spending your evenings arduously folding laundry, you chose to spend it with your family.

The dishes? Same thing.

The shower? Eh. One day. One day there will come a time when you can take an uninterrupted, lengthy shower. And it will be glorious. Absolutely glorious. But for now, just buy stock in dry shampoo and baby wipes.

Having to go to work everyday? YOU HAVE A JOB. You have the means to provide for you family. You have another purpose in life, outside of the home. You are a part of a team.

Bills to pay? You have heat, electric, reliable cars, food to eat, health insurance, you get the picture. Money is not everything.

Family is everything and happiness is what you make it. Cheesy, corny goodness - but it's the truth!

It's important to take a step back every now and then to realize what exactly you are taking for granted.

Take a deep breath. You've got this. Life is good. Oh, so good.

a little bit of life lately:

**This post was originally written back at the end of October, but I am just now getting around to posting it... Such is life, am I right?**

It's been a while since I've done any sort of "what we did this week/weekend" update and I know that I will regret not capturing those moments here to reflect on later. This past weekend was simple, but filled with fun - my kind of time well spent!

On Friday, Peyton went to a fun trick or treat event at a state park with her Dad and his family (one of their yearly traditions) so my Dad and Nick worked on the mudroom for a bit, before we headed out to Home Depot to pick out our "faux wood" tile. I've been so excited to see this room come together because, considering what it looked like before, it is going to look SO much better now! There were decisions to be made about which tile would look better...

Originally, we had planned on the right - "Rustic Bay", I think it was called) but instead I liked the lighter "Dapple Grey". Ironically, our first picked just looked too "muddy"... for the mudroom ;)

After we loaded up the car with our tile purchase, we headed towards Walmart for some much needed baby formula and other essential food items. This little munchkin man was so good for us, and it is so much fun shopping now that he can sit in the cart like a big boy.

Since it was so late, neither of us felt like cooking dinner. So, Little Ceasar's pizza and crazy bread (while snuggled in bed!) it was! Hashtag fatties but we love it.

Saturday started off with a bath for little man. He loves bath time and will splash around and play with his bath toys 'til his little heart is content.

Nick and my Dad spent the morning working on the mudroom, so Peyton, Rhett and I got ourselves together and hit up the library for some new book selections for my little which, Peyton and then we made the drive to go pick up my Dad's birthday presents (his birthday was Sunday!).

Once we came home, we relaxed and were bums for the rest of the evening.

The next day, Peyton and I took a trip to the hair salon down the street!
She got her bangs trimmed and Mama became a redhead!

When we got back, Dada and Papa Ron worked super hard to finish up the mudroom floor.
The day before, they had laid the tile and then Sunday they filled in all of the gaps with a dark grey grout. It looks so good!

^^ The tile before the grout was applied. ^^
Me, Peyton, and Rhett spent the afternoon preparing for the evening of Papa Ron's post-birthday celebration by baking a cake. Which was, not without a few whisk and spatula licks - because icing is tastyyyy, duh!

^^ Peyton showing Aunt Nenna the card that she made for Papa Ron while they were facetiming. ^^

It was a wonderful weekend, indeed. And then that Monday we carved pumpkins and listened to Halloween music. There was also an in-living-room screening of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" that I was more than happy to be a part of. Life with this family of mine could not be better.

Life is good. So, so good.

grateful.

I stumbled across a wonderful idea of a link-up today and decided to join in. We are to share something(s) that we are grateful for from the week. Here are just a few of mine:

I am grateful for... the time that I get to spend at my parents' house. Especially when it involves catching butterflies with this little girl.

I am grateful for... the random pictures Peyton snaps during those times when she sneaks away with my phone. Can you see her little shadow holding up the phone in the picture below? That + the view of my parents' backyard = a wonderful sight. *sigh*

I am grateful for... snuggles with a smiling puppy when I come home from work // making the decision to put the autumn wreath up on our front door {too soon? of course not!} - it makes me happy to see whenever I come home // coffee & chocolate for an afternoon pick-me-up to get me through a long night of work // doughnuts at work from a co-worker just because // and relaxing on the couch with my love after a long, long day.

I am grateful for... this picture my sister snapped of us cuddling while watching #SHARKWEEK {aka best week ever!}

I am grateful for...  these outtakes from attempting to get pictures at the family reunion. Having fun & being silly :)

And most of all, I am grateful for... this beautiful little angel. Even in her sleep, she melts my heart.
